The journey of RuneSaga began in 2022 when Lark and I, driven by a shared passion for game development and a vision to create something unique, started working on the initial concept. We dedicated countless hours to brainstorming and developing the foundational elements of the server, focusing on creating a seamless and engaging experience for players. Towards the end of the year, we recognized the need for additional expertise and reached out to Brett, also known in the community as Wet Wizard. Brett’s reputation and experience in the private server scene, spanning nearly a decade as a player, made him an ideal addition to our team.
When we presented our progress to Brett, his immediate enthusiasm and willingness to join forces were incredibly motivating. His extensive knowledge of player behavior, preferences, and community dynamics brought a valuable perspective to our project. With Lark and I primarily focused on the development side, Brett’s insights helped us fine-tune the game’s features and mechanics to better align with player expectations. This collaboration marked a significant turning point in our journey, solidifying the foundation of what would become RuneSaga.

Absolutely! We are incredibly excited to celebrate our one-year anniversary on June 1st, a milestone that feels both monumental and surreal. To mark this special occasion, we have planned a two-week-long event filled with exciting new content and activities. Players can look forward to encountering a new birthday-themed boss, specially designed to challenge and entertain them. Additionally, we are introducing a series of special event items that will be available exclusively during this anniversary celebration, adding a layer of excitement and exclusivity to the festivities.
In addition to the anniversary event, we are thrilled to unveil a new undead boss named Double Stitch. This boss has been meticulously designed to provide a challenging and thrilling experience for our players. Double Stitch’s grotesque appearance and unique mechanics will offer a fresh and engaging challenge, and we believe our community will thoroughly enjoy the encounter. These updates are just the beginning of what we have in store for our players, as we continue to innovate and expand the RuneSaga universe.

My journey into server development began over a decade ago, driven by a passion for game design and a curiosity about the inner workings of games. It all started when I gained access to a very primitive map editor, which allowed me to experiment with creating custom maps and environments. This initial foray into game development ignited a spark within me, and I quickly became fascinated with the possibilities of creating my own content.

Choosing a favorite feature is challenging because we have put so much effort into every aspect of the game. However, one unique feature that stands out is our heists. These mini-games are designed to provide a thrilling and high-stakes experience for players. In a heist, players must solve puzzles and navigate obstacles to reach a prize room, where they face a boss that guards the treasure. After defeating the boss and claiming the treasure, players must retrace their steps back to the entrance as the structure collapses behind them.
The high-stakes nature of the heists, combined with the need for quick thinking and strategy, makes them incredibly engaging and exciting. Players have responded positively to this feature, and it has become a beloved aspect of the RuneSaga experience. Fun Facts about RuneSaga
One of the more unique aspects of our server is that the player model is entirely custom. This decision was made early in the development process, knowing that it would set us apart and add a unique touch to the game. Because our player model is custom, standard OSRS sets don’t fit our character. The few OSRS sets we do have, such as Barrows and 3rd Age, had to be extensively remade by hand to fit our model.
This attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique experience is what defines RuneSaga. We wanted to offer something truly different, and customizing the player model was a bold step in that direction. This level of customization and care in our content creation helps set RuneSaga apart and adds to the unique and immersive experience we offer our players.
